Overview
ZMI is a simple biostatistics calculator to help identify he BMI, z-score and metabolic equivalents for children between 12 and 19 years old. Additionally, it can now calculate z-score and metabolic equivalents calculations for adults 20 years old and above as well.
All math and formulas used in ZMI are based on work by Matthew Gurka, PhD, Interim Chair of Biostatistics at West Virginia University. Due to the specific nature of these formulas, please take some time to understand the calculations before using this code in your projects.
If you would like to learn more about MetS severity scores and the calculations handled by this application please view the news release.
Update: ZMI has since been forked and development has been continued by Matthew J. Gurka and his team at the University of Florida. You can learn more about it's continued development at metscalc.org.
